About

I'm Keith Arthur Watson.  I like to make beautiful and functional things.

My Great Grandfather was Arthur.  He worked hard for the whole of his long life.  My mom attests that as a teenage athlete she could barely keep up with him in his 90's painting house exteriors on wooden ladders. My grandfather and my uncle carried the name and added their own greatness to it, and I am proud to continue on from where their paths have ended.  I hope to contribute something to the name that those who come after me will be proud of too.

In a similar way as something as simple as a name can connect us across time, objects that we use, too, can remind us of those important things that come before and after us. I aim to make objects with some greater permanence, objects with an honest history and which are an earnest gift to the future. It may sound trite, but we are borrowing this incredible earth from our grandchildren. And I want to leave for them as much of the beauty that I have been lucky enough to experience as possible.

I would like to make something of value for you. Something that makes your life a little better.  Something that might make it a little easier to see beauty every day, and that, with just a little care and a little luck, may provide these gifts to the generations who follow us.

I grew up near Pittsburgh and after some wandering have settled back in here.  I love western Pennsylvania and our beautiful native woods (the forest and the trees).

My career in woodcraft began in earnest as I was doing remodeling work and I recognized the desire to create some finer things... So since then my knowledge and skills have been fostered by practical experience working with furniture makers in NYC and by a lot of self education and learning from friends and colleagues.

I'm also deeply dedicated to gardening and fostering native ecologies, as well as making beautiful food with what we and our farming friends grow.  I'm always happy to talk about some native wildflowers.  Drop me a message if you feel the same way.

Thanks for stopping by.
